OUR U.S. FILM DEBUT AND A HOMECOMING PARTY!
Watching our documentary on a big cinema screen gives me goosebumps.
Being able to do that in my home state, New Jersey, for our U.S. film debut lifted my heart higher.
Being able to watch my Dad, siblings, loved ones and friends watch our film in a movie theater…well, there are no words to describe that feeling of pride, connection, achievement, love, and awe. The closest word I can find is: Bliss.
When we got news that our film was selected for the Ridgewood Guild International Film Festival, I knew I had to be there. It was the first time our story would be shown on U.S. soil, and it was happening in Ridgewood, N.J. — 30 minutes away from where I grew up!
It felt like serendipity. Of all the film festivals we have been applying for, the Ridgewood Guild made one of my wishes come true… to be on home turf while sending our story out in lots of new directions.
It was such a warm and joyful feeling being surrounded by loved ones, and the organizers did an amazing job of welcoming the filmmakers, actors and protagonists… pre-event YouTube converstaion, a Red Carpet interview, and after-party bash. I felt like a Hollywood star!

Hanging out on the Red Carpet!
We had an entourage! Thank you to everyone who attended, to those of too shy for the camera, and to those of you who wanted to be there but couldn’t be there in person. It was such a joy being surrounded by such love.
Lots of great questions during the Q&A after the screening.
Yup… that’s me, broken fingers and all.
I managed to walk two continents over 3.5 years without falling and breaking something. The evening before our screening, a couple hours after landing in New Jersey from Barcelona, I tripped on my own two feet playing basketball with my niece in my sister’s driveway and broke two fingers. Definitely an unexpected turn of events, but as they say, “The show must go on!”
Health note: Cast is off. Xrays look good. My fingers are healing and learning to bend again.
