About Cal Martí Guest Nest: A Blend of Old and New

Welcome to our charming guest house in the heart of Vilafranca del Penedès, the wine capital of Catalonia. Our beautifully restored home, dating back to 1847, offers a perfect balance of history and modern-day comfort.

After completing our 3.5-year walk from Bangkok to Barcelona, we embraced the tranquility of small-town life here, surrounded by nature and vineyards. During three years, we renovated our home, which has been in Lluís’ family for four generations, and carefully preserved its classic features like original wood beams and masonry while introducing a calming zen atmosphere. We’ve created cozy nooks for yoga, meditation, and relaxation, alongside modern conveniences like fiber optic Wi-Fi.

We provide personalized attention tailored to your needs and offer a curated experiences in this unique setting, where old-world charm meets serene, contemporary living.

Rooms and Rates

Our Cal Martí Guest Nest has 3 bedrooms and 2 shared bathrooms, with bed linens and towels. Each room is equipped with a heating/AC unit, a desk, a chair, and a closet.

There are no kitchen or televisions, and, at this time, the shared multi-functional space is designed to be used for stretching, yoga and meditating. Hair dyers, an iron and yoga mats are available upon request.

A cash payment is required at check-in.

Room 2 :

Two individual/single beds, 90×190 cm, that can be together
100 € per night

Room 3 :

One individual/single bed, with another one hidden under it for the rare occasion when we need an extra double room

Optional guided visit to the human towers group Castellers de Vilafranca’s practice sessions (Monday, Wednesday, Friday nights during the team’s training season, typically from early April to late October).
Meaningful travel-related conversations with us, Jenn and LLuís. We love talking about the richness of travel, especially as walkers who walked 16,048-kilometers (9,971 milles) by foot from Bangkok, Thailand to Barcelona, Catalonia.

About Vilafranca

Vilafranca del Penedès was founded in the 12th century along the Via Augusta, a Roman imperial road that linked Rome to the Atlantic Ocean. Its architectural heritage reflects both its medieval past and the Modernist trend that emerged after the phylloxera crisis, which destroyed the vineyards circling the town, according to Turisme Vilafranca. This resurgence brought prosperity to the Alt Penedès region, with wealthy landowners and merchants embracing Modernist designs, building homes and structures that reflected their newfound economic status.

The town celebrates its age-old festivals and traditions (Festa Major or main festival, Fires de Maig, ViJazz, Fira del Gall…) and is home to the human towers groups Castellers de Vilafranca, Xicots de Vilafranca, wine cellars, or a vibrant Saturday morning market.

Our Cal Martí Guest Nest is in the center of town, conveniently located to key tourists sites including the Vinseum (wine museum) or the city hall square. We are walking distance from the train and bus stations, supermarkets, cafes, restaurants, bakeries, a wide variety of shops, vineyards and Mediterranean forests.

We are 50 kilometers from Barcelona and 20 kilometers from the beach towns of Sitges and Vilanova, linked by highway, road, train and bus lines. The nearest airport is Barcelona-El Prat Airport, about 47 kilometers (30 miles) by car.
