Ens complau comunicar que hem estat seleccionats com a candidats al primer Premi Viatger en Ruta de la prestigiosa Lonely Planet.

Good news! We have been nominated by the prestigious Lonely Planet, for the first Traveler on route prize!

La nostra aventura ha despertat interès en altres viatgers i hem estat seleccionats com a un dels nou candidats al primer Premi ‘Viatger en Ruta’.

Els nou candidats han estat seleccionats per reflectir l’esperit de la coneguda Lonely Planet, una referència pels viatgers independents. Tots els candidats s’organitzen els seus viatges amb total independència i llibertat, cercant un enriquiment personal a través d’experiències intenses viscudes dins les cultures locals. Certament encaixem en la descripció i esperit… com a viatgers independents caminant lliurament, enriquint-se amb més de 14.000 quilòmetres de innumerables experiències, tot rebent i compartint la bondat a través de les cultures locals.

Tenim el plaer de compartir candidatura amb vuit altres aventurers, viatgers en solitari, acompanyats, en diferents mitjans de transport… Hi ha un d’ells que volta amb un camió de bombers, o una fantàstica ciclista, Txuri que vàrem trobar tot creuant el Pamir al 2016 i amb la que vàrem compartir uns moments especials.

Jenn i Lluís

Al 2016 varen sortir de Bangkok per arribar a Barcelona a peu. A principis del 2016 varen començar un viatge per unir Bangkok i Barcelona. El repte és fer els més de 14.000 quilòmetres a peu. Varen sortir de Bangkok i ja han creuat el Sud-est Asiàtic, Àsia Central i estan recorrent Europa. Ambdós motxillers, Jenn va recórrer Europa sola en 7 mesos, Lluís, Àsia i Oceania sol durant 1 any. Plegats varen viatjar 5 mesos per Amèrica de nord a sud i caminaren el GR-92.

Our walk has drummed up interest among other travelers, and we’re in the running for our first travel-related prize.

We found out recently that we are one of nine candidates selected for the ‘Viajero en ruta’ (Traveler on route) prize! Pretty exciting, huh?

The candidates were selected because they reflect the spirit of the well-known Lonely Planet travel advice and guidebook brand: They are independent travelers who organize their trip with absolute freedom and seek to enrich themselves with the best experiences and local cultures. Yeah, I think we fit the description… independent travelers walking freely, soaking up +14,000-kilometers-worth of innumerable experiences and sharing kindness with locals.

We have the pleasure of sharing the virtual wall space with eight other adventurers – caravaners, cyclists (one of whom we met in the Pamirs in 2016 and still often talk and think about. Go Txuri !!), and solo backpackers getting around via hitchhiking and public transportation. There’s even a guy wandering the world in a fire truck! We send all of them our hellos and congratulations for following their dreams, letting their travel spirits shape their way, embracing the world as theirs, and living their best lives. With hands on our hearts, we wish them continued good luck, strength and courage to continue onwards.

I Premio Viajero en ruta, de Lonely Planet

This is what our profile says:

Jenn and Lluís

At the beginning of 2016, they started a trip to link Bangkok and Barcelona. The challenge is to make 14,000 kilometers on foot. They left Bangkok, and have already walked through South East Asia, Central Asia and are now crossing Europe. They are both backpackers. Jenn traveled through Europe solo for 7 months, Lluís, Asia and Oceania alone for a year. Together they traveled 5 months from North to South America and they walked the GR-92.

Participants in three upcoming Jornadas de los Grandes Viajes conferences will vote on the three finalists who they believe deserve the prize. Winners will be announced in May 2019.

A special thank you to Itziar and Pablo, from Jornadas de los Grandes Viajes for nominating us and believing in our journey.

And, of course, thank you to all of you reading this for sharing our footsteps and traveling with us as we cross Asia and Europe.
