Life is filled with lots of little moments. Here is one of them.

Introducing the One Moment series, dispatches about the ordinary things we appreciate in the present moment.

I let my feet drift in the Ganges River.

My eyes fall into open meditation, watching the water and a rock. I think, “Be water.” A half a second later, three other thoughts pop in. “And be the rock. Move surely like water. Stay steady like the rock.”

In a few seconds, the lines blur between what is the water and what is the rock. They appear as one. They are one. They have long co-existed. They know each other. They belong together, and are comfortable in each other’s space. But, they express togetherness differently. One moves surely. One stays steady. Opposites but complementary. I will be both the water and the rock, moving surely and staying steady.

I tuck these gifts of wisdom away into my beingness. I whisper thank you into my praying hands and let gratitude ripple away. I touch drops of holy water to my head. I say goodbye to Rishikesh. I begin again walking towards Barcelona.

I am always walking towards the home where my heart has room to breathe.

For spiritual seekers, the Hindu god Hanuman represents the breath. Hanuman symbolically also stands for devotion, surrender and absence of ego.
